Four days in Georgia's wildest region: Mestia, the stone towers of Ushguli (UNESCO) and glaciers beneath Shkhara.
Svaneti is a Georgia you will not see anywhere else: medieval defensive towers, the highest permanently inhabited villages in Europe and the glaciers of the Greater Caucasus. Mestia will be our base, and the highlight - a trip to Ushguli (2100 m) beneath the wall of Shkhara, Georgia's highest peak.
Day 1 - scenic drive to Mestia along the Enguri reservoir
Day 2 - Mestia: museum, Margiani towers, Hatsvali cable car
Day 3 - full-day trip to Ushguli (UNESCO), Shkhara glacier
Day 4 - Chaladi glacier trek and return
